Invitation: „The Hungarian Media and Foreign Policy Conflicts"

We would kindly like to invite you to a conference entitled The Hungarian Media and Foreign Policy Conflicts. The conference aims to review how the Hungarian media have handled the following issues over the past few months: the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, the scandal surrounding the American ban on the entry of certain high level Hungarians officials and German criticisms about the state of Hungarian democracy.

During the first part of the conference we plan to present Policy Solutions' most recent study, which investigates in detail the picture that the Hungarian public received about the aforementioned conflicts if they followed the reporting of foreign policy events with a Hungarian dimension on the most popular televisions channels, most widely read newspapers and most widely read news portal.

The second half of the event will feature a discussion by three foreign affairs journalists, Gábor Horváth, editor of Népszabadság's foreign affairs sections, Gábor Stier, editor of Magyar Nemzet's foreign affairs section, and Eszter Zalán, correspondent for Agence France-Presse. Our guests will debate the representation of the East-West conflict in the Hungarian media. The discussion will be moderated by András Bánó, the host of ATV's The World Abroad foreign policy show.

The conference will be held on Friday, 17 April 2015 between 10-12.30 at the Budapest Music Center, 1093 Budapest, Mátyás utca 8.

The discussion will be in Hungarian but English language translation will be provided.

We would also like to invite you to join us at the reception following our event.

If you wish to attend the conference, please register by 15 April 2015 by e-mailing
