The poor economic mood – even in small towns traditionally considered Fidesz strongholds – poses a political risk to Fidesz, according to a new survey by Policy Solutions. A key question in the upcoming elections will be who can win over the undecided voters, and in this regard, Péter Magyar has outperformed in the past six months.
According to Hungarian society, Viktor Orbán’s government – continuously in power since 2010 – has rather hindered than advanced Hungary’s development. This was revealed in a major study conducted earlier this spring by Policy Solutions, which examined public perceptions of the 15-year performance of the Orbán system.
Now, six months before the elections, we once again asked people about their economic expectations and about who they believe would govern better – Viktor Orbán or Péter Magyar. Even six months ago, the results already showed that the majority of Hungarian society considered Péter Magyar more suitable to lead the country than Viktor Orbán in most policy areas. Over the past six months, trust in him has grown even among undecided voters.
